South Central Kys second tournament of the season kicked off Friday night at Pittsburg Marine, in London. The fine folks at Pittsburg and The Optimus Club greated us with fried fish, fries, hushpuppies, coleslaw, and a large assortment of cakes for dessert. After dinner fellow angler Rick Brammer talked to us about Crankbaits and Christians. Rick explained that crankbaits look all good and shiney in the box but if we don't take a chance on losing them they will never catch any fish. Christians need to take a chance and talk to people about Christ. We had 29 teams represented at the meeting and 2 people renewed their commitment in Christ.
On Saturday 33 boats blasted off at safe light in hopes of catching the winning limit of bass. The team that accomplished that task was Jeff Strong and Andy Dunn. They came to the scales with a winning weight of 18.43lbs. Jeff and Andy said they caught all their fish on A-Rigs around standing timber. They also added that at noon they only had 2 keepers in the boat, but in the last 45 minutes of the tournament they caught 13 fish to round out their limit. In secont place Wes and David Baker had a limit of bass weighing 16.21lbs. Wes said their fish was caught using light line and a pink bubble gum worm. TJ Wilcher and Mike Carrier finished third with a weight of 15.53lbs. TJ and Mike caught all their fish on Megabass Jerkbaits fishing around points. The Jimmy Oliver Big Bass award went to the team of Tim and Travis Akers with a largemouth weighting 7.11lbs. Join us on April 27 on Lake Cumberland for our next tournament. See ya soon!
