This is Championship Day of the 2020 Berkley Team Series National Championship on the Harris Chain of Lakes from beautiful Leesburg Florida. As the 29 teams left the ramp this morning in search of that big catch we had clear skies and temperatures in the mid 60’s. Conditions had changed a little bit today from the previous two days, for those days we had a light breeze and highs in the mid 80’s and today the wind had laid down which could affect the bight for some of the anglers. Everyone was wondering if the SC upstate team of John Wilson & Blake Riddle could continue to catch the fish as they have the previous two days for a chance to win a new BassCat Puma FTD powered by a Mercury Pro XS 250. Second place will be a BassCat Margay powered by a Mercury Pro XS 150 and cash being awarded for the rest of the filled resulting in over $150,000 total payout in cash and prizes.
Also today the Berkley Cast for Cash will be paid out with $500 going to the highest finishing team that are Berkley Cast for Cash members and $250 going to the second highest finishing team that are members of the Berkley Cast for Cash. What a way to earn easy money by fishing, with only a $29.95 membership fee. Thank you Berkley for providing such a great program for the Anglers.
After the conclusion of the weigh-in on Saturday the KY Southcentral team of Doug Coulter & Todd Wilson brought a five fish limit of bass to the scales weighing 17.95 lbs. giving them a three day total of 61.63 lbs. moving them up from second place to take the National Championship by 1.50 lbs. Doug and Todd have fished more than ten National Championships before they were able to finally take the crown and wining the BassCat Puma FTD powered by a Mercury Pro XS 250. Michael and Mark Heatwole from VA East moved up from third place to finish in second place with a three day catch of 60.13 lbs. wining them a New BassCat Margay powered by a Mercury Pro XS 150. The bite for the SC Upstate team of John Wilson and Blake Riddle fell off on day three as they were only able to catch a limit weighing 10.52 lbs. giving them a three day total of 59.76 lbs. and dropping them to third place overall. Fourth place went to the AL NE team of George Crain & Alan Glasgow waiting until the final day to weigh their heaviest weight of the tournament 26.32 lbs. giving them a three day total of 57.30 lbs. moving them up from seventeenth place.
