The Fishers of Men Maryland Division held tournament number 2 out of Tydings Park, in Havre de Grace MD, on the Upper Chesapeake Bay. The fishing has been somewhat tough with the keeper bite being hard to find. Tom and Jimmy brought in 22.39lbs. with the big fish of 5.69lbs. Paul Wiley and Jon Crans dropped 20.04lbs on the scale with a big fish of 5.54lbs! Jim Everhart and son Corey connected with 18.68lbs with a big fish of 5.20 lbs! Jeff Pelkey and Ian Godwin placed fourth with 3 fish for 7.87 lbs. Jami Johnson and Brady Hobbs had 2 fish for 7.29 lbs. John Dell and Jim Shinn had a 4.40 lb. fish for 4 40lbs for 6th place. 7th place went to Mike Malamphy and Tom Waters. Welcome to Shawn Ramey and Evan Roache who placed 8th with their 2.26 lb. largemouth. They are in line to win a $300.00 rod and reel combo if they fish the remaining 3 tournaments this year.
The First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace was a wonderful host providing us with a spaghetti dinner and a perfect meeting location. There were 30 in attendance at the meeting. Jimmy Rufenacht provided the message speaking from Proverbs 30:5-6. He reported about our recent experiences at the National Championship and about following “all” the rules. He spoke about the purity of the Word of God and gave a great testimony and gospel presentation. I would like to thank each one who helped with the tournament operation. From tournament weigh in set up (Ted Quatman), to publicity (Jon Crans), to our Chaplain (Paul Wiley), to family and fellow anglers who pitched in to help, we thank you for your service.
The Maryland Division would like to thank Fishermens Heaven, Stanford Baits and Bigtime baits for their support for our division. Nathan Hess has designed and built our plaques for the winning teams and a big fish plaque for each tournament this year. Fish 4:19 eyewear has an interesting promotion for Fishers of Men this year.
