Our first event for the 2016 season is behind us. 41 teams battled rain and high winds at Mosquito Lake this past Saturday.

Our event started off Friday night at our good friends of the Cortland Church of the Nazarene, in Cortland OH. Pastor Fred and the gang of girls served up another awesome meal for the 76 people representing 41 teams. A very big thank you to all who helped prepare and serve.

Our speaker for the night was Dan Peterman. Dan has been part of this division since day #1, and is always willing to step up and share what God is doing in his life and share with everyone else in hopes that that night might just be the night that someone ?needed to hear that?. Dan told us a story of stopping to help a person who was trapped in the wreckage of a car accident. Without thinking and without worry, doing what needed done?..not worrying about fear. He then challenged us all that we should be the same way with all those we encounter every day who are trapped by Satan, and we need to pull them from him, just like pulling someone from a car accident. His simple, but powerful message was enough for two to ask Jesus to be their Lord and Savior that night. And eight others made the choice to re-dedicate their lives to follow Christ in every way. Thanks brother Dan, for always being willing to get out of your comfort zone and do what you have been called to do. You are a true, Fisher of Men!

Saturday morning, all 41 boats were splashed and blasting off just after safe light. It wouldn?t be long before heavy downpours and winds upwards of 30 to 40 mph started pounding the lake. However, not one team quit early, as this lake is loaded with largemouth, and everyone wanted their shot at finding the best 5. When the scales closed, it was another Mosquito Lake victory for Andrew Larson and Partner Matt Becker. This strong team tipped the scales with 14.66 lbs worth of largemouth, and the big fish for the day at 4.71 lbs. Hot on their heals were the team of Moslak and Lake, taking second place honors with 14.24 lbs. Humenay and Graham were not far behind with 13.96 lbs for the third place slot. Rounding out the top five were Belinda and Peterman in forth with 13.75 lbs and fifth place went to father and son Jim and George Holencik with 13.43 lbs. Check out the main web page for the rest of the results.
Our next event will be on Lake Erie, out of Presque Isle. Check out the site for the details.
