Sweet Home Alabama.  It sure was great to get back to Decatur, AL to see our friends that have welcomed us in years past for our Legacy National Championship Event.  Don Dukemineer from the Decatur Morgan County Tourism and the great team that supports him rolled out the red carpet for all the Fishermen and their families at the Ingals Harbor Pavillion for our Thursday Night Meeting. We were surprised with an awesome meal catered by LawLers Barbeque that is hands down some of the best BBQ in the South.  

We all had the awesome priveledge of having one of our very own Ministry Partner Pro's, BassMaster Classic Champion and MLF Pro Paul Elias as the guest speaker.  Paul kept the crowd engaged as he shared with the group about his fishing experiences and how having his priority out of alignment helped draw him closer to a relationship with Christ.  Once realizing and making God first in all things he started to get his spiritual life back on track and it also helped him with accelerating in his fishing carreer.  

The 72 teams were up early on Friday and ready to hit the water in search for those little green fish.  The weather has been hot all week making the bite a little more difficult, but as we all know someone always finds them and figures them out.  A three fish limit for each day is what the teams were trying to load the livewells with for the 1PM weigh-in.  54 teams were able to reach their goal.  Taking the lead after Day 1 was Chris and Aslyn Baldus from Alabama Northwest with 9.59lbs and a 4.12 big fish.  Not far behind in second place is Ronnie and Lane Mueller from the South Carolina Low Country with 8.79lbs.  Rounding out the top 3 was Richard and Cameron McEarchern from Alabama Northeast with 8.65lbs.  The big fish winner for Day 1 was Michael and Nathan Moore from Mississippi with 4.39lbs.
