2021 Berkley Team Series District 7 Championship

The District 7 RealTree Championship got kicked off at First Baptist Church of Hemphill Texas with a great meal of fajitas provided by Skero Furniture and the Texas East Division. We were blessed to have Angie Adkins, wife of Ford Adkins, Ross Motor Sports (BassCat dealer), sing our national anthem followed by Jeff Berger, Sr. Pastor of First Baptist Church of Conroe who brought a moving message that saw many rededications and the welcoming of a new soul into the brotherhood.
Friday morning found us on the ramp at 5:00 am checking livewells of the 63 teams that were competing for a trip to nationals and the ultimate win of a great new BassCat boat.
After a day of tough weather and equally tough fishing the teams began crossing the scales with their catch. The team of George Anderson and Ralph Logan led the pack with a catch weighing in at 14.39. Following close behind was the team of Rusty and Levi West with a stringer weighing 12.32. Rounding out the top three was the Adult Junior team of Robert and Sam Richey with a sack weighing 11.62. These weights were not what our teams have come to enjoy as they fished one of the very best lakes in the country. The big fish of the day was caught by the team of Joshua Kieffer and Christopher Kaylakie, a 7.85 toad.
All of the teams were looking forward to day two in hopes of getting a better bite.
