What a weekend, Texas Central Fishers of Men wrapped up event number 2 on Stillhouse Hollow Lake. And it was an event for the record books without a doubt. We started the event at 3C Cowboy Fellowship in Salado Texas where the cook staff welcomed us with open arms. The wonderful folks there are always so welcoming and loving. They had a full spread cooked up for the anglers and family members in attendance. We enjoyed mashed potatoes, gravy, hamburger steak, green beans and dessert. If you went home hungry, it was your own fault.
Pastor Mike Miller shared his testimony with us, he spoke on his life before Christ when he was chasing rodeo dreams and living a lifestyle that mimics the worldly desires. His life was drastically changed through a series of events, a change that would take him from rodeos to the pulpit, and Praise God for the change. We certainly appreciated hearing about the transformation that took place in his life when he realized God had so much more for him.
We finished out the night with a Texas Central division style raffle, we love our raffles. We are blessed to be able to provide so many items to those who participate, truly great fun.
Saturday morning at 5:15am the temperature was reading 33 degrees at Stillhouse Marine boat ramp, can you say brrrr. Anglers we eager for the hours to pass so the temps would rise. We had a prayer, stood for the National Anthem and started calling out boat numbers. The weather warmed up to a whopping 43 degrees by 3pm check in… When the boats started coming in you could see in the anglers faces that they were ready to get off the water and warm up. The team of Justin Eary and Ryan Warren did not have time to feel the cold, these two came to the scales with a monster limit weighing 36.20lbs today, they also took big bass honors with a kicker weighing in at 9.10lbs. The fish these two were catching had to keep them fired up all day. Second Place was taken by Cord and Colton Zahn, they came in with a limit weighing 23.07lbs. Third went to Davion Spiller and Noah Toth, the two settled the scales at 22.93. Fourth Place went to Justin Williams and Colton Hill, they brought a limit weighing 21.52lbs. Paul and Kessler Stokes rolled in with a limit weighing 19.75lbs, good enough for 5th place. Brennan Fertig and James Beauchamp grabbed ahold of sixth place with 19.00lbs even. Chance Allen and Jared Siegler finished out the paying positions with a limit weighing 17.04lbs.
It was truly a wonderful day, we saw some big sacks of fish coming to the scales. We gave two teams back their entry fees, and we were able to increase payout for the first finishing team that attended the Friday night pre-tournament meeting. Justin Williams and Colton Hill were the recipients of that bonus.
We could not do any of this without Christ, his love for us and his provisions allow us to put these events on. We are certainly grateful for his mercies and grace. To be able to hold these events, meet anglers and their families, create bonds and friendships centered around Christ and our passion for competitive bass fishing is truly a blessing, he is worthy of all of praise for this and so much more.
