What an exciting weekend for Fishers of Men Texas Central Division. This director was flying solo this week, with two of my helpers out of town I was very blessed to have some amazing help in pulling everything off. Nathan and Chris Eller traveled from Azle Texas and ran all raffle tickets and merchandise sales during the Friday night banquet, they also ran the bump tank, took all the photos and helped tear down and packed up of all the equipment. On top of that help, Mr. Kory Grelle jumped on the computer and scored all the fish. I was incredibly blessed to have these individuals jumping in and lending a hand, couldn’t have done it without them.
Our Friday night was held at Cross & Spurs Cowboy Church in Buchanan Dam, TX. The folks there are so very good to us, Pastor Sawyer is always willing to accommodate our team and roll out the red carpet. I will never forget meeting him for the first time and discussing the opportunity of having events on the property, he was and is still very excited to have us gather there. Pastor Sawyer delivered a great message on the instructions Paul presented to Timothy. A great message that was well received by all of those in attendance. The team there served up brisket, sausage, chicken, beans and potato salad, followed by cobblers and a banana pudding that was pretty incredible from what I was told..
Saturday morning started off early and the anglers began casting for the win at 7am. At the end of the day they were tired of battling the winds, the boat traffic and crowded creeks. All teams came to the scales with fish today, some had one and many had a limit, but all brought something in. When the scales closed the team of Chester Jenke and Trevor Rogge claimed the Buchanan title with a limit of fish weighing 20.65. Second Place was secured by the team of Gary Johnson and Seth Fisher with a limit weighing in at 17.49, they also took Big Bass title with a good one weighing 6.82. Third place was taken by Jayson and Lake Kisselburg with a solid limit weighing 16.28lbs. Fourth place was split between the team of Mike Sedillo / Justin Rathbun and Andy Whitehead / Kevin Hurley, both teams showed up with 15.75lbs.
It was a great time for all, we are looking forward to next month when we head to Lake Waco. Come fish with us!!
