Sturgeon Creek Marina hosted the First tournament of the year on beautiful Lake Anna. The temperature rose to low eighties with variable winds and hazy skies at first. Before clearing up to be a beautiful day! The water temperature was reported in the mid 50’s making fishing tough for all participants.
Jay and Kylee started their morning mid-lake working crankbaits around rock. We then moved on to points and the mouth of the rivers throwing swim jigs but still focusing on rocks incorporating some grass. They continued running that pattern the remaining of the day. It was Kylee’s first tournament and my second fishing the first one with my oldest daughter four years ago on lake Chesdin. It was great being back fishing in the Legacy division and with a very special beginning this year with Kylee. Jay went on to say they were blessed with a fun practice day. Especially when Kylee managed to land a citation yellow perch mid lake on a crankbait of all things. Jay and Kylee wanted to thank everyone who made these events possible. They are both looking forward to the next tournament coming up on the James River.
Second place went to the Allen Walden & Alexis Carson team with a weight of (10.42 lbs.), The third-place team of Randy & Jayson Beasley who landed (9.37 lbs.). Twelve teams participated in our first legacy tournament of the 2025 season. With six teams in bonus bucks. We also welcomed several new teams to the division.
The pre-tournament meeting was held at the Hebron Baptist Church in Spotsylvania, Va,. Thirty fishermen, family and Hebron Baptist Church members attended the meeting, where they were served complimentary and delicious meal of Spaghetti, garlic bread with salad and to many desserts to mention.
