Texas East’s final event of the 2025 regular season found us back on one of the best fisheries in the state of Texas, Big Sam Rayburn.

We were once again hosted by Hillcrest Baptist Church, Jasper, Tx, in their beautiful Family life center.  Our expanded family of approximately 300 were treated to BBQ , Baked beans, Potato salad and wonderful cake that was provided by our church host.

Griff Griffon, Pastor, The Bayou Church, Lafayette, La., was our speaker and he brought a powerful message about the prodigal son.  Many of the men and women present said their big takeaway was Griff’s statement, “No matter how far you run from God, you will never outrun His grace.”  There is so much comfort in that.   The spirit moved and three men gave their lives to Christ and six more rededicated themselves to walk in lockstep with Jesus.  Blessings all around!

Our weigh in took place at Cassels Boykins State Park.  Sam Rayburn and once again it didn’t disappoint as we had lots of fish caught and some big un’s for sure! 

The team of Tater Reynolds and Josey Thibodeaux took both the first place honors, 29.96, but also the big fish of the tournament, 11.71!    Second place went to the team of Kaden Mueck and Case Sutherland with a sack weighing 24.34.  Rounding out the top three was the team of Billy and Zane Parker with a 22.39 bag.  These three teams were also neck and neck in the year end standings  but when the dust settled, the team of Mueck and Sutherland took home the Texas East Division Champion honors for 2025!  Congratulations to these young men and we are excited to see them represent Texas East at the National Championship on Toledo Bend in 2026!

I want to take a moment and thank all of the Texas East Staff that worked tirelessly all season to make our events second to none.  I assure you, this director could not get it done without all of the dedicated servants that call Texas East home.

Recapping this season, we have had 10 salvations, 1 baptism, we have provided more than 1500 meals, we have donated, through your support of the raffles each event and working a staff project, $20,000 to two mission organizations, Cast for Kids and Jerico Road Bible ministries, we have given out more than $130,000.00 in prize money and thousands of dollars in door prizes.  We have averaged 104 boats per event and we look forward to seeing that number grow as we continue to reach out to our fishing communities.

Remember, “We are so much more than a check at a boat ramp!” Spread the word and let’s get more of our friends and family to come and join the best tournament trail on these two lakes.  We are all about our fishing family!!
