“The sea was angry that day, my friends,” as George Costanza would say. 14 teams braved the 10-15 mph NNW winds of the Potomac River for the first Maryland Division tournament of the season. The river temps have dropped around 8 degrees in the last week making the cold-blooded species more finicky than normal to catch.

The father and son team of Joe and Joey Johnson won the event with 5 fish for 16.40 lbs. They also won the big fish prize with their 5.65 lb largemouth. It is great for Joe to be able to rejoin his son for the 2025 season!

Jon and Jody Werner barely missed the win by .04 lbs with their 16.36 lb. limit. In third place was Jacob Vandevander and Dylan Otte with a great bag of 16.02 lbs. The top three teams were separated by .40 lbs!

In fourth place was the team of Jeff Pelkey and Ian Godwin with 14.22 lbs. after having mechanical issues. Fifth was Jon Crans and Paul Wiley. The Rufenacht’s had sixth place. The new team of Joses Flores/Clayton Brault finished in seventh place. Welcome guys!

Thank you to the men of the Indian Head Baptist church for again providing a wonderful meal and event location. Pastor Jeff delivered an entertaining and effective gospel message making clear the Biblical message of joy and hope for all who will recognize their true condition and receive the free gift of salvation in Jesus Christ.

We would also like to thank our local sponsors FishermensHeaven.store, John Fillmore Motors.  Native Tungsten, and Missile baits has also provided a 35% off code for FOM-MD members.

Fishers of Men would like to thank all our National Sponsors Berkley , BassCat Boats, Abu Garcia, Mercury, Fenwick, Realtree Fishing, FireFly Outdoor & Marine, Power-Pole,  T&H Marine, Frogg Toggs, and Fish 4:19 Performance Gear.
