Upstate SC Division Event #3 - Lake Keowee Event Recap

We started this event out with an awesome meeting at The Mill Chruch in Pickens, S.C. they were very gracious in hosting our pre-Tournament meeting, and guest Speaker Jason Hickey absolutely drove The Word of God right to the heart of our anglers with one very simple but effective question. "Are you an Investor?" I wish you all could have heard it, because in all honesty it was something that every one of us needs to hear more often throughout our lives. It hit home with four of our anglers at the meeting and sparked them to re-dedicate their lives to christ! Helping folks tighten their walk with Christ, and leading new souls to Christ is what we are praying for every time we open the doors at one of these meetings! The fishing and fellowship is awesome, but seeing God's word change lives... Man, it doesn't get any better than that!!! Praise God for what he is doing here in the Upstate of S.C. and thank you all for making it possible!

   The Upstate division stopped at Lake Keowee in Seneca, S.C. on March 25th, 2017 for it's 3rd qualifier of the 2017 season. The weather was absolutley gorgeous and the fish seemed to cooperate well for most all of our teams. Teams reported catching fish on everything from drop shots to Topwaters, and bedded bass! We had 61 boats blast-off at safelight to fight for the 5k first place prize.

   In the end, Chris Myers and Alan Drummond with a nice 16.65 lb. bag barely squeaked out the win by .026 lbs.! They walked away with well over $5300 for a great days worth of fishing! They edged out the 2nd place team of John Wilson and Blake Riddle which had 16.39 pounds. Their efforts for the day earned them over $1600!

   Taking our last guaranteed payout for third place was the team of Perry Mattress and Jarvis Reeder, they had another nice bag of fish that pushed the scales to over the 16 lb. mark with a 16.09 lb. bag! They walked away with the $1000 guaranteed check for 3rd place!

   Keowee is well know to have some GIANT largemouth, but anyone who fishes the lake regularly knows how difficult they can be to catch also! Zack and Mark Hicks unlocked the mythical Keowee Largemouth bite at least once this past Saturday and She was an absolutely BEAST by Keowee standards! The Big Girl netted the Hicks team $500.

   Congratulations to all of our competitors, we have had (2) events this season qith ZERO dead fish, and we only had (1) dead fish cross the scales at Lake Murray! This is something to be extremely proud of guys, and we hope that heading into the warmer post-spawn months that you will continue to be extra vigilant to ensure that you keep your catch alive and well for these remaining two qualifiers.
