We started off our 2017  FOM N.C. Central season at Mayo Lake in Roxboro, N.C. Westwood Baptist Church in Roxboro  has been our long time host for our Friday night meeting. We thank Pastor Gerald Hodges and his staff for their faithful service to our division. Youth Pastor, Jason Engle was the speaker for the evening. Pastor Gerald was home sick with the flu. Terry Wright and his helpers  provided us with  a great dinner of their famous barbque chicken.

Pastor Jason spoke the truth to our guys and gals about there are only two sides to the gospel. You either believe what Jesus said or you don't. There is no middle ground John 14:6. We had 16 re-dedications tonight !!!

I introduced ny assistant director for this year, Mike Hair. Next year Mike and his wife Carolyn (Pepper) will be taking over as NC Central FOM division director. After six months of multiple health issues, the Lord is leading me to serve FOM in a new direction.I am not going away,I will be here to help any directors if needed and also be available to speak if needed.

Tournament Day:  Mike Hair and our faithful group of volunteers got all 60 boats blasted off safely in the cool temps and light rain.. We had cold front come through prior to our event and the water temperature dropped over 10 degrees in 3 days. Weather got better as the day went on.

As the boats came in, it was clear that the weather  conditions  could not stop our fishermen.

First place was taken by Tony Fox and Wayne Sheppard with 22.51 lbs and winnings of $3,092.00. Not bad pay out for 60 boats !

Second place was the team of Joe Langley and Gary Johnson with 17.45 lbs and taking home $1,449.00

Third place was John McBride and Chris Barnes with 16.95 lbs and winning $724.00

Fourth place was father-son team of Sam and Aaron Fisher with 16.66 lbs and big fish of 6.90 lbs. They took home $724.00

Fifth place was Kevin Sheppard and Edward Franklin with 16.42 lbs and taking home $506.00.

Baits of choice were a mixture from A-rigs to shakey heads and everything in between.

Our next tournament will be at Jordan Lake April 1st. The friday night meeting will be at Hendricks Southpoint. Don't miss the great food provided by Colonial Baptist Church and Larry Phelps at Hendrick Southpoint. We have a special speaker who is featured regularly in the Carolina Sportman magazine !   See you soon !
