We kicked off the 2017 Alabama Northeast Berkley Team Series Friday Night March 3rd at Henryville United Methodist Church in Guntersville, Alabama.. One of our teams, Ron and Elaine Holler , and their daughter Anita and son Dean served up a fantastic meal of Baked Ham, Mac and Cheese, and Green Beans. As we were registering the teams, members of the church kept coming into the fellowship hall with homemade desserts to put the finishing touches on the meal. Henryville has such a heart for people and watching everybody work together was truly an example of what the church should be like. We gave away a few prizes and we over the details for the tournament day. After that, Division Director Tim Tidwell share a message from the book of James. Our division will "Journey through the book of James" this year as speakers will preach messages from each of the 5 chapters of James at each of our 5 events meetings. Our focal verse for this year is James Ch. 1 v2 Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, 3 For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. 4 And let steadfastness have it's full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. We will use the word COMPLETE as our focal word. With 2 main goals as the year moves along... 1. Each one of us being COMPLETE (Mature, Grown Up) in our walk with God and 2. Each one of us seeking God about how we are to COMPLETE the rest of our lives on this earth (How will we FINISH). Three individuals rededicated their lives to the Lord at the end of the message. We are excited about this Journey through the book of James this season.

Saturday morning greeted us with temps hovering around freezing as the 45 boats headed out onto Lake Guntersville, but as the day moved along toward the weigh-in at Bucky Howe Park the temps settled in the 60's with sun and a light wind. The team Mike and Chad Hazel came to the scales with 21.43 lbs to take the win and had a 6.56 lb Big Bass of the day. They took home $3162.50 for their efforts. Jake McKinney and Luke Lacey brought in 20.64 lbs to take 2nd and the team of Kent Bouldin and Steve Hallman had 18.36 lbs for 3rd place. We paid 11 places in this tournament. See the standings below.
