A BEAUTIFUL, BUT WINDY DAY TO START OFF 2017 TOURNAMENT SEASON

     Fishers of Men, Alabama South started off 2017 with a great start.  Our Friday night meeting was again hosted this year by Creola First Baptist Church in Creola, AL.  Brother Al Brown and his ladies always do a great job and this year did it again.  The week before this tournament Sharon and I both were fighting the flu.  We got better and decided to go ahead and have the tournament, but instead of doing the cooking we bought Little Caesars Pizza and had salad to go with it.  We got almost to the top of the Dolly Parton Bridge and the motor in Sharons Trailblazer blew up, but we managed to limp the rest of the way to the church.  GOD IS GOOD, ALL OF THE TIME.  We had a great night and had the largest turn out we have had in a while.  We had 47 present at the meeting Friday night.  Brother Al talked with us about being Fishers of Men.  That is what our Lord meant for us to be.  We should always be ready to talk with others about our Lord and how he can take all of our troubles away and that there is Nothing we have done that we cannot be forgiven for.  Thank You Brother Al for the words of encouragement and reminding us that we all need to be Fishing for Men.  We had 4 rededictions and 1 profession of faith.  At the end of the night we had 22 boats fishing on Saturday.  If not for the wind we most likely would have had a foggy morning, but it was clear and we blasted the 22 boats off as soon as it was safe light.  Since we pay one place for every 5 boats this was the first time in a while that we paid out 4 places.  Congratulations to the Team of Wayne and Lisa Cox.  They had motor trouble that morning and had to fish with the trolling motor and toward the end of the day it was giving them trouble too so they came on in and weighed in a sack of 5 very much alive bass that weighed 15.86 Lbs to take first place.  They also had a big fish that weighed in at 5.00lbs, but at the end of the day it wasn’t big enough to take big fish.  Congratulations to the team of Brian and Kim Moye.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed in at 13.98 lbs to take second.  They too had a big fish that weighed in at 5.28 lbs., but just like Wayne and Lisa it was not big enough to take big fish.  Congratulations to John Odom and Joe Turner.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 13.50 lbs to take third place.  Congratulations to Lou Cobb and Jim Bell.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 13.25 lbs. to take fourth place and had a big fish that weighed in at 5.34 lbs to take big fish as well.  At the end of the day there were 93 bass brought to the scales and released alive to be caught another day.  The 93 bass weighed a total of 192.14 lbs.  That is an average of 2.07 lbs per fish.  Not bad for the Delta.
