A BEAUTIFUL SPRING DAY TO ENJOY GODS WONDERFUL CREATION

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held their third tournament of 2017 in Camden, Alabama out of Ellis Landing.  We held the meeting at Camden Baptist Church on Friday night.  We had 43 present at the meeting.  For supper we have smoked boston butts and BBQ sauce to put on the buns for a BBQ sandwich.  We had chips along with tea to drink and pound cake with strawberries and cool whip along with a sheet cake of chocolate chip pound cake.  All of the food was very good and I would like to thank Sharon my wife and Karen Danny’s wife for all they did to get everything ready for Friday night.  I would also like to thank all who helped us get everything unloaded and set up so that we could get everyone fed.  I also would like to apologize if there was anyone who didn’t get as much to eat as they wanted.  We ran very close on the amount of food we brought.  If we cook again, we will not run that close on food.  I have mentioned this before, but if you like to cook outside and like to smoke any kind of meat you need to get a Masterbuilt smoker.  Over the years I have had many different smokers and still have one that is no longer made.  The Masterbuilt is hands down the best one I have had.  They are very easy to use and they have electric as well as gas.  The one I have is gas.

Brother William Coen the associate pastor at Camden Baptist Church talked to us Friday night.  He spoke from Galatians 3. It speaks of the promises God made to Abraham and the believers.  None of us are worthy, but if we confess and ask for his forgiveness we can have everlasting life.  This is the one and only way is to ask for him to come into our hearts and change our lives.  Thank you William for reminding us that he is the one true god and that there one and only one way to receive everlasting life.

We had 19 boats at this tournament with 17 of them represented at the meeting Friday night.  There had been some heavy fog several times during the week and I half way expected to see some fog Saturday morning, but the Lord blessed us with a very beautiful morning.  As the day wore on the wind got up pretty good and even though it was a very warm day, it was fairly comfortable most of the time thanks to the wind.  At the end of the day there were 69 fish brought to the scales that weighed in at 128.75 lbs.  Congratulations to the team of Tony Boyett and Brian Metcalf.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 12.81 lbs. to take first place.  They also had a big fish that took big fish for the day that weighed in at 3.99 lbs.  Most of their fish came on frogs.  They did catch some on lizards and jigs.  They fished close and the fish were shallow.  Their big fish came on a frog not long before time to weigh in.  Congratulations to the team of John Odom and Joe Turner.  They brought in 5 fish that weighed in at 12.73 lbs. to take second place.  They caught their fish on a swimming jig in white and chartreuse.  Their fish were shallow.  They started out close, but then ran to another location.  Congratulations to the team of Lavon and Zac White.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed in at 10.41 lbs. to take third place.  They caught their fish on shakey heads and crankbaits in 4-8 feet of water in the river.  On their shakeyheads they had finess worms in pumpkin.

Our next tournament is a Legacy tournament.  It is May 6, 2017 out of Ellis Landing.  The Friday night meeting will be at Camden United Methodist church in downtown Camden.  Our next Team tournament will be held on May 27, 2017.  We don’t have the location finalized for the meeting as of yet, but are working on it.  As soon as we get it finalized we will post it to the web site.  The tournament will be held out of Swift Creek on the Alabama River outside of Prattville, AL.  Alabama Central whose home waters Swift Creek is on will also be having a Legacy Tournament out of Swift Creek the same day we are up there.  Their weigh in will be at 1:00PM.

If you are looking for a different kind of Bass tournament trail come and check us out.  You will be glad you did.
