A BEAUTIFUL DAY TO BE OUTDOORS WITH GODS CHILDREN

Fishers of Men, Alabama South held its first and Legacy tournament of 2017 on March 11, 2017 out of Isaac Creek landing on Claiborne Lake.  Friday night we were hosted by Mexia Baptist Church in Mexia, AL.  They cooked hamburgers for us and as they did last year they were again very good.  These people know how to cook up some really good hamburgers.  Their cook says the secret is to use pecan wood to cook over and not charcoal.  Jason Moye their new youth/associate pastor spoke to us that night about being an anchor.  He spoke to us about what the need for an anchor was, such as we are always either in, coming out of or fixing to go into a storm.  We need a good anchor to hold us as we go through the storms, just as a boat needs a good anchor to hold it in a storm.  If we will put our faith and trust in Jesus he will be that anchor and will keep us steadfast through anything and everything we have to deal with.  We did not have any first time professions, but did have 2 rededications Friday night.   We had 10 teams to fish and 8 teams were represented at the meeting.  Saturday morning was very clear and no fog.  No fog is always a good thing at Claiborne.  At the end of the day 4 teams brought a limit of fish to the scales.  All total there were 32 fish weighed in for a total of 49.06lbs.  Congratulations to the team of Brian and Brandon Moye.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 9.20 Lbs.   Brian and Brandon caught their fish on a lizard, spinner bait and a brush hog.  Their fish came from around 10’ deep.  Congratulations to the team of Lavon White and Triston Upton.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed 9.16 lbs. to take second place.  They caught their fish on shakey heads and brush hogs in june bug.  Congratulations to the team of Zac and Zhane White.  They weighed in 5 fish that weighed in at 8.79 lbs to take 3^rd place.  They caught their fish on spinner baits, square bill crankbaits and fished in backwater.

   If you have fished at least one of the Legacy tournaments you are qualified to fish the Legacy National Championship on Lake Wheeler on August 4, 5, 2017.  They will be taking entries for that tournament shortly.  If you are interested in fishing the Championship you need to be making your plans to go now.
