Day one at Fishers of Men National Championship Tournament is in the books. It started out chilly and windy but anglers were none the less excited to get this year’s Championship underway. Last year’s National Champs, Dustin Bishop and Kyle Lear from Kentucky West, jumped out to lead the pack with a 5 fish limit that weighed 15.98 lbs. They found these fish today and are looking to repeat tomorrow. The Texas North Central team of Eric Thompson & Paul Ferguson are in 2nd with 5 fish that weigh 12.91 lbs. It was a tough day for a lot of anglers. The top 21 teams will draw a check on Saturday; right now the cut off is 9.34 lbs. That is all subject to change tomorrow.
We had 108 teams to blast off this morning. They will be fishing for two Bass Cat Boats powered by Mercury along with cash prizes exceeding $43,000 for a total payout exceeding $135,000
