The 2018 Doug Hanes Memorial Ice Breaker Open was held on April 29^th at Indian Lake. This tournament was originally scheduled for April 7^th but due to high water it was re-scheduled. The field was slightly smaller due to the change but we were happy to see 54 teams at the event. 

Chilly conditions meet us for the morning boat check with temperatures around freezing but warmer temperatures were expected as the day went on. At 7:30 we blasted off with the first flight scheduled to return at 3:30.

As always early in the spring no matter what the conditions the Indian Lake fish are willing to bite. Of the thirty nine teams who brought fish to the scales we had thirty two five fish limits. Congratulations to the team of Doug Stemen and Will Greeley who were the winners with a limit weighing 12.26lb. Second place went to the team of Phil Carver and Shawn Masers with five bass weighing 11.24lb. Third place with five bass weighing 10.85 was Greg Spears who fished by himself. Jason miller who also fished alone brought in a limit weighing 10.45lbs and took fourth followed by the team of Darrell Gallagher and Tony Daniels with a limit weighing 10.25lbs. Big Bass honors went to the team of Mike Hastings and Frank Nichols with a bass weighing 4.46lbs. Second big bass weighing 4.37 went to Darrell Gallagher and Tony Daniels.
