WOW! What a great, although scorching hot event!

My Hat is off to Journey Christian Fellowship and their "In the woods" men's ministry, they hosted us Friday night and provided an awesome assortment of Pork and Deer BBQ along with all the fixin's you could think of and some dessert to boot! Associate Pastor Jarod Harker provided everyone with a powerful message about what is "in our nature". As outdoors men/women its a drive in our nature to get out and chase our passions, but we can use the same drive to follow after Jesus. We can use that drive to stop following after creation and start following the Creator. Sin is also in our nature, and that can block our devotion to Christ. He let the teams know if they were to win the event it was from determination and devotion, and we can use that same devotion on a daily basis to get us closer to the King of Kings!

Saturdays event had been moved to the Chickahominy river due to recent heavy rains and lots of floating debris on the James. Boat check opened early and all the teams were out chasing their limits by 5:45. It was a swealtering day with highs in the upper 90's and next to no wind. We had a 3:00 check in but had the scales open early and most of the 21 teams took advantage of that. All teams had weighed in by 3:15! Despite the opressive heat every team caught fish and there were some nice bags brought in.

First place along with big fish went to Monte Aleman and Audie Murphy with a bag of 20.51lbs that included a 7.92lb lunker! That fish would also be the big bass of the season!

Second went to Allen Walden and James Hendrick with 16.22lbs, rounding out the money spots were,

3rd: Whitfield/McMichael  15.48lbs, 4th: Webb/Ferk  14.77lbs, team Fisher/Fisher recieved two Abu Garcia rods as the first out of the money team.

This event closed out our 2018 points season. Brad Webb and Jay Ferk repeated as points champions! These are two of the nicest guys you'll meet but they are always in contention on any body of water they show up on! Congratulations on a great season guys! Audie Murphy took the season big fish honors with his 7.92lb beast in this final event, Congratulations!

I want to send a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who fished this season. It was my first year as a director of anything, LOL, the patience as I worked through inevetable hiccups and the words of encouragement along the way means more than you guys know! Thank you and I am already looking forward to next season!
