Day 2 of the District 5 Qualifier started with all the teams gathering at Anchor Marina to prepare for an early launch.  The winds died down some what and should help make it easier for anglers to get to their favorite fishing holes.  With a 100% payout on the line all teams decided to stick it out for both days.  One really good sack of fish could make this a game changer for the field.

Some local teams had some decent bags on day 2.  John Crans and Paul Wiley had 16.65lbs for day two and the largest bag of the tournament.  The next closest teams for day two weights were a couple of 9 pounder bags from the teams of Crayton/Skobel and Shinn/Jones.

When it was all said and done the team of Josh and Bill Bailey from Virginia East held on to their day one lead with a two-day total of 20.90lbs.  They were so excited that the couldn’t believe that had won the event.  They told us that they barely burned any gas during the event staying near to the North East River and fishing a lot of the riprap in the area.  They didn’t have many bites but the ones they go they landed. The caught their fish most of the time on spinner baits and jigs.

Not too far behind was the second-place team of Ken Molz and Daniel Brockmeyer with a two-day total of 20.38lbs.  Third place team of Kirk Wall & Charlie Reed from NC East had 20.12lbs. 

Since the team of Shawn Skobel and Gary Crayton were the points champions in Maryland we were able to go down to 6^th place to fill the last slot for the National Championship in 2019.
