Another fantastic turnout for Va East Team trail! We had 32 boats register for our 5th event of the season and 28 were represented at Friday evening.

Mechanicsville Baptist Church graciously hosted out Firday meeting and fellowship. The crew there worked hard and provided a great meal of salad, spaghetti, tea and finshed it off with cake! The message was presented bt MBC's youth pastor Dwight, who presented a very relateable message that was well recieved. We had 4 recommitments to Christ at the close of the evening! 

We raffled off some great things from our sponsors like TH Marine, Captain Garys, Big Johns reel service, Richmond Marine Center as well as many others. Boat #1 was also drawn as usual from the response cards recieved from those in attendance. The rules highlights were gone over and the teams were headed back for some tackle prep and a good nights rest by 7:30. 

Saturday brought boat checks at 4:45am by launch at 5:45 the impending heat of the day was already felt. With the forcast to be near 100* and heat index well over that, the choice was made Friday to back weigh in up to 2pm and 2:15 for second flight, to try and help with fish care and angler fatigue. 

Our teams fought through the day with almost all teams bringing fish to the scales, a great job was done by all to maintain the health of their catches. When it was all totalled up the team of Eric Rowe and Eddie Griggs walked away with their second win of the season and first in Bonus Bucks, with 14.99lbs and over $1500 for their efforts! Second place with 14.62lbs was the team of Mike and Mark Heatwole they were second in Bonus Bucks also our Berkley Cast for Cash winners and earned over $900 dollars. Third place was Carl and Aaron Sadler with 14.06lbs. Fourth place was Brian Barth and Brett Anderson with 13.85, they were also second place in Berkley Cast for Cash which earned them an extra $150. Fifth place with 13.53lbs was Lewis Williams and Mariley Furrow!

I just want to thank everyone so much for supporting the Virginia East Team division this year! It has been another awesome season, we have one more event to go to determing who our points champions will be in a fairly tight race!
