The 20th Season is underway and the 96th Tournament was an exciting one for the Scrap Books.

The event got kicked off on Friday night with a great meal at Masterbuilt.  The Masterbuilt built folks not only know how to cook some Off-the-Chart BBQ and Sides, but their hospitality is second to none.

Masterbuilt employees also donated a huge pile of supplies for the Valley Rescue Mission and a held a drawing for an amazing Smoke Hollow branded grill to encourage donations for the Mission as well.  And to top it off, a bunch of the Valley Rescue Mission folks came in to assist with serving the meal.

The best things that can be said about the weather is that 1) the fog and rain held off just long enough to get the anglers out the cove and safely to their 1st fishing spot 2) and, the Heavy tornado producing thunderstorms held off until after the weigh-in.  Prayers for all of those in the Wetumpka area who were affected by the tornado :(

With a dangerous storm approaching, the brave and courageous staff set up a very simple weigh in under the protective edge of the 'restrooms' building.  Thankfully there was a pretty steady breeze in their faces for most of the event.

A very large contingency of men came down from Crossroads to assist with the weigh-in, knowing that it was going to be a rough afternoon.  It's a safe bet that not one stitch of clothing was dry when they loaded up and headed home.

It was an exciting afternoon as the first dozen or so teams came in with very low weights, setting a concern that maybe the Chattahoochee River had finally gotten so muddy that the fish couldn’t seem to find the bait.  But as the next wave arrived, the weights began to pile up.  The Lead for overall weight and Big Fish changed over and over again, and once, the lead changed three times in a row as anglers brought bigger and bigger fish in.

When it was all tallied up Scott Sanders and Scott Oliver teamed up and brought a 19+ pounds limit of fish to the scales and walked away with around $2,000.  Congratulations on the win Scotts!

This was also the first tournament that the anglers were illegible for the Berkley Cast for Cash rewards program, so two teams also scored and extra $400 in fishing cash for their top finishes.

Check back soon for videos of the Top three anglers and the Big fish that went just over 5 pounds.
