Tournament Five 2019
Texas East’s fifth tournament of the year was also an experiment in doing a one day event two days in a row. We kicked off registration at 4:30am on Saturday morning at Fin and Feather Resort on Toledo Bend and blasted off 39 teams with the weather threatening hail and tornados. Once again Toledo Bend did not disappoint with some very large stringers!
The Ed Parten Big Bass money went to the team of Jon Robinson and Bill Lambert with a 9.31 toad! Cody Pitt and his partner, Lane Masters, had the winning sack on this day too with a bag weighing 26.96 followed by Bill Lambert and Jon Robinson with a 23.35 sack.Gary Baker and Chaz Quinn rounded off our top three with a 14.10 five fish stringer.
Immediately following weigh in, at Fin and Feather’s conference center, we hosted a Lasgna and salad meal that was provided by Skero Furniture. Our message was brought by our host church’s Pastor, FOM Angler, Bo Owen, who brought an inspirational message that spoke directly to our men. We can’t begin to thank Brother Bo and the wonderful folks at First Baptist Church of Hemphill for opening their church to us through the years!
Missions update!
What an outpouring of love to the orphans in Brazil as our men stepped up for the second day in a row to donate to our “Fishing to Feed Children’s Mission" . We had an additional $800.00 in donations to feed the kids in Brazil!! These men continue to show unbelievable giving hearts! Texas East is setting a great example to the rest of our brothers throughout the nation! So exciting to see what the Lord is doing in FOM!!!!
As I say each tournament, none of this would happen if it weren’t for the incredible volunteer staff that work tirelessly for hours and hours to make this even something the Lord would be proud of. My heart is overwhelmed with appreciation for all that they do. Special thanks go out to Leonard and Cheryl Claridy for hauling up the food, setting up and serving us. So many thanks to the crew that worked so hard to set up and tear down the meeting and tourament, Coy and Cindy Jennings, Gary Baker, Joe and Stephanie Sekel and their daughter Riley, Kristi and Zeke Richey, Rick Saunders, Dan Hilton, Aubrey Lewis, Jim Spitzmiller and Will Eller. Special thanks goes out to the youth from Six Mile Baptist Church!!
