A BEAUTIFUL, BUT WINDY DAY TO START OFF 2019 TOURNAMENT SEASON
Fishers of Men, Alabama South’s 2019 season is off to a great start. Our Friday night meeting was held at Restoration Church in Cintronelle, AL. We had a great Friday night with 38 present at the meeting. Brother Joe Turner started his message with a couple of important questions. What motivates you? What has God called you to do? God has called each of us to do something in this life. Not all are called to be evangelist or pastors. Some are called to be painters or carpenters. You must pay attention to what God has laid on your heart and life and ask the question, am I doing this for God or man? Genesis tells us that we are created in God’s image. We were created to fellowship with others. We were challenged to read 1 Peter Chapter 4, which tells us what God intends and wants for our lives. First, our mindset should be like Christ. We should be like Christ in every way. We should not be worried about man’s opinion. Second, we should understand that we will suffer just as Christ did in his life on Earth. He was tempted just as we are today. He was made fun of and killed for being different. Lastly, we should wean ourselves from our worldy desires. Just as you wean a baby from a bottle and baby things. Once you are weaned, you do not want to go back to those things from the past. We were created to live in an environment where God is always present. We were not made for this world. It is a cursed world. We should strive to be better stewards for God. We will be held accountable for what we spend our time and money on in this life. You will suffer for your sins and you will suffer for believing in Christ but God will protect you. It is a challenge to live for Christ. Thank You Joe for the words of encouragement and reminding us that we all need to rely on the Lords trust and righteous path. At the end of the night we had 14 boats fishing on Saturday. We blasted the 14 boats off as soon as it was safe light. Congratulations to the Team of Tony Lister and James Richerson weighing in 10.12 pounds to take 1st place and also weighing in the biggest fish of the day at 3.59 pounds. Second place team of Lou Cobb and Jim Bell weighed in 7.61 lbs. Third place went to Brain Moye with a weight of 7.36 lbs. Rounding out the top 5 was John Odom and Joe Turner with 7.19 lbs and Lavon and Zac White with 6.81 lbs. At the end of the day there were 57 bass brought to the scales and 55 released alive to be caught another day. The 57 bass weighed a total of 76.91 lbs.
