2019 Berkley Team Series District 7 Championship

The district 7 Championship kicked off in one of the best venues that any tournament could ever experience, the facilities of Bass Pro Shops in Garland Texas.  Our host, Garland Sports Events and Bass Pro Shops, arranged a meal from their award winning resturant, Islamorada Fish Company which was unbelievable!  We had a wonderful salad, fried catfish, shrimp Alfredo, Chicken with pesto sauce, steamed and seasoned vegetables and iced tea.  Amazing!!  The message was brought to us by our regional chaplain, Rusty West.  Rusty laid out a challenge to us to guard our words and let the words we do use be words of encouragement to build people up, not tear them down.  These words resonated with our anglers and we heard many commenting on this as the weekend went on.

Day one blast off took place on the docks of Bass Pro as our anglers went out to tackle the waters of Lake Ray Hubbard.  The weather was great and it proved to be perfect for catching a good stringer because almost everyone caught fish.

When the teams hit the scales it was the team of Kieffer and Pollard that brought the biggest sack, 19.98.  The second place team of Parks and Terry weighed in at 16.95.  Our adult/junior team of Sheehy and Sheehy rounded out the top threee with a stringer of 16.31.  The team of Beckham and Ross had big fish with a 7.77# toad!    Many teams are in the hunt for day two!!  Lake Ray Hubbard has proved to be a good fishery!
