Roanoke River Tournament Results
The North Carolina East Division held their third and final Team Series tournament on the Roanoke River July 11, 2020. 20 teams launched from the East Water Street boat ramp next to the Town of Plymouth Police Station in search of the winning bag of fish. The weather was warm with a light breeze and humid temperatures in the 80’s at sunrise. The temps were predicted to be in the upper 90’s with a heat index over 100 degrees. Division Director Pat Seigh offered a prayer before the teams departed praising God for the beauty of his creation and thanking him for his blessing to allow us to enjoy his creation, remembering that all we do is for the glory and honor of Jesus. With near perfect conditions our teams were able to run to their favorite spot in search of the winning bag of fish. 20 teams brought 77 Bass to the scales that weighed 201.88 pounds. The average team weight was 10.09 pounds and the average fish weight was 2.62 pounds. When the weigh-in concluded, Dustin Winslow and Sanders Overman brought in an impressive five fish limit that weighed 19.17 pounds for first place, which included a nice 5.98 pound kicker fish. They received $1,000.00 dollars for their days work including first place for the tournament and first place bonus bucks $237.50. Coming in second place was Tommy Houlroyd and Brandon Overton. Tommy fished solo because Brandon was at the hospital for the birth of their child. Tommy brought another nice bag of fish that weighed 18.24 pounds. They received $450.00 dollars for second place, $142.50.00 for second place bonus bucks. Third place honors went to the team of David Buchanan and Brian Richardson with a five bass limit that weighed 15.05 pounds. They took home $300.00 dollars for third place and $95.00 dollars for third place bonus bucks. Fourth place honors went to the team of Kirk Wall and Charlie Reed who brought in a five fish limit that weighed 14.99 pounds. They received $150.00 dollars for fourth place. The big fish for the tournament was brought in by the team of Mike Hinson and Jeff Stoop. They received $100.00 dollars for weighing a 6.57 pound fish. Congratulations to all our winners and a special thanks to all our members who participated in this event. Congratulations to Tommy Houlroyd and Brandon Overton for winning our 2020 points champions. They receive an automatic entry in the 2021 National Championship at Lake Guntersville.
