Coughlin Win a tough Cherokee event.

Story by Steve Jennings

Friday Night Meeting was at First Baptist Church of Dandridge. Cory Hammett did a great job of doing the cooking and serving of the food.   After everyone was feed Dr. Justin Terrell gave a heart filled sermon where we had a least one-person that recommitted their life to the Lord life.

Saturday morning the Fishers of Men gang awoke to a frigid temperature of 17 degrees and clear bluebird skies as daylight broke through the darkness of night.  Seems the weatherman had missed the low about 10 degrees.  It was supposed to be 27 degrees not 17 degrees.

First place Ameriprise Award went to the father and son  team of Bob and Rob Coughlin with the only limit of the tournament weighing in at 13.54 pounds. Their winning bag of fish included the tournament lunker which weighed in at 4.89 pounds.  Coughlin reported running their Mercury powered boat all over beautiful Cherokee lake to catch their fish on several different baits.  Good job!!

Second place went to Jason White who fished alone in this event.  This seasoned pro came to the scales with 3 bass weighing in at 8.30 lbs.  Jason helped with blast off and after getting putting the tournament director back on the bank, Jason reported running his Mercury powered Nitro to the mid-section of the lake to find several boats fishing the place where he planned on start his day.  He made an adjustment and went to another location.  He reported catching his three keepers on a crankbait in the first twenty minutes of the tournament.

Third place went Keith McDeerman and Von Delbeck with 3 fish 8.26 This team came to the scales with 3  fish weighing in at 8.26 lbs.

Fourth place went Brian Scates and Stanley McLemore, who came to the scales with 4 fish weighing in at 7.55 pounds.  These seasoned veterans of the fishing world reported running their Mercury Outboard all the way to the river.  Brian reported that they caught their fish off one stretch of bank.  They started out with a crankbait but had to change to a swimbait to catch their fish from the 46-degree water.
