Pure Fishing’s Rutherford & Malone Smash them on Murray!

The SC Lowcountry Division kicked off the 23 season on Friday night at Chapin UMC where a record breaking crowd turned out for the Murray Tournament! 80 Teams entered to take their shot at the $3000 Guaranteed 1^st Place Prize!

After the teams had all the Pizza they wanted, The Bass Chaplain Chris Wells brought a challenging message about exhibiting the fruits of the Spirit, Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Gentleness, Kindness, Meekness and self-control. Exhorting us to examine our lives and see if we were exhibiting these traits!

Saturday morning dawned cool with a biting Northeast wind as the anglers left the dock in search of the numerous 3-5 lb bass Murray is known for. When the dust settled, Pure Fishing’s own Brad Rutherford and Kevin Malone put an old fashioned beat down on the field when they dropped at massive 29.42 lb bag on the scales to take the win and over $3650 as they bested the field by over 4 ½ lbs.

They reported catching their fish on the Berkley Frittside Crankbait, fishing windy banks all over the lake.

I guess the motto “Your Fish, Our Science” also means their fish too! Congratulations!

Finishing a strong 2^nd was the team of Darrell Shull and Jimmie Vining who brought 24.95 lbs to the scales. They reported catching their fish on crankbaits in the 10-14 ft range and won almost $1900

In 3^rd were new comers Lucas Murphy and Will Alewine who brought 23.90 lbs to the scales and reported catching them on dropshots.

Finishing 4^th was the team of Hampton Anderson and Tyson Alvanos who had 23.88 lbs

Rounding out the Top 5 was the team of Chris Epting and Johnny Mayer with a 23.36 lb bag.

It took 18.30 lbs to be in the money in 16^th place.

Big Fish a 7.71 lb Beauty was caught by the team of Michael and Trent Swygert and earned them $400 plus a $100 Gift Certificate to JC’s Outdoors in Gilbert

47 Five Fish limits were brought to the scales.
