Day two of the Berkley Classic Team Series 2023 District 10 Championship, presented by Realtree Fishing, proved to be just as tough of a fishing day as day 1 with the 31 teams bringing only 33 keeper size fish to the scales.
Day one leaders, Chris Burk and Tim Maupin had a much rougher day and were only able to boat one keeper. However, it was a good one, weighing in at 5.04 lb. giving them a tournament total of 22.30. They could only stand and watch as the other teams came to the stage one at a time trying to overtake them.
The teams of Lewis Mallory & Mike Quinlin and Garrick Straber & Mikael Robbins were both able to bring in bags weighing over 11 lb., but both teams had a rough day one, causing them to fall a little short in overall combined weight.
Near the end of the weigh-in, the team of Aaric Correll and Brandon Gladish came to the scales with only the second five fish limit of the tournament. After having only 3.76 lb. on day one they needed a total of 18.55 lb. to take the lead. Chris and Tim looked a little nervous as they hoisted their bag of fish onto the scales. Aaric had brought in the biggest bag of the tournament, including the biggest fish of the tournament weighing 6.73 lb. The scales settled at 17.47 lb. propelling Aaric and Brandon all the way up to 2nd place overall.
Jason Roberts and Guy Linville added another 7.29 to their day one weight for a tournament total of 20.67, bringing them to within less than 2 lb. of the winners.
After all teams had weighed in, Chris Burk and Tim Maupin had held on to their lead from start to finish and they were crowned the 2023 District 10 Champions.
After tallying all of the scores, the following teams have qualified to compete in the Fishers of Men National Championship on the Harris Chain of Lakes in Leesburg, Florida in March of 2024:
